Cashmere United Super Youth Match
Report Super Youth Vs Burnside AFC
Our strategy was simple, in their
face and take them on at every opportunity. Steve McRae's runs into their
defensive third finally paid off in the 16 minute when playing into the wind we
went one up. The standard of football wasn’t great in this game but we fought
well and played with aggression. It was a worry that 15 minutes to go and the
score was still 1-0 to Cashmere. A good through ball by Regan sent Steve on his
way again and he rounded the keeper to confidently knock it into the back of the
net. They kicked off and we reclaimed the ball and forced a corner. The ball was
knocked out and hammered back in for Geordie to get a head on it …..3-0. We
pressed forward again following the restart and won another corner. Regan hit
this to the front post where Brendan headed it into the net. 4-0 and another
improvement from the first round game.

Cashmere United
Super Youth Match Report Second Round - First Game St Andrews
First X1 at Somerfield. St Andrews under the coaching tutelage of Tony
Harvey play some of the best football in the Super youth league, so it was not
without a certain trepidation that we lined up on Saturday to take them on.
Having been beaten in the first round 3-0 we looked to impose our strategy on
the STAC team and rely on our predetermined tactics to take it too them. 15
minutes into the game saw STAC score a scrappy goal from the right hand flank.
Cashmere immediately replied with a good one-two by Captain Kercher leading to
Steve McRae hitting the top corner of the net and levelling the score. Geordie
Dann did a good job in tracking their defence and keeping them on their toes,
however at the other end, some slack marking gave STAC a two yard shooting
opportunity with led to the 2-1 score at halftime. The second half was a tense
affair with Regan tackling his heart out and Sam and Sam making desperate
tackles to keep STAC at bay. We looked to the counter attack to get Steve away
but it wasn’t to be. Ryan had a good game in the middle of the park as tiring
legs were substituted. Sean also had a good game in goal and kept us in the game
on more than one occasion.
